WHAT WE TREAT
What can dermal fillers treat?
DERMAL FILLERS
Minimal downtime, immediate results
Lips
Adding subtle volume, improving definition of the lip border, or restoring fullness lost with age
Cheeks
Restoring mid-face volume that diminishes with age, creating lift and definition
Chin enhancement
Improving profile balance and lower face definition
Nasolabial fold softening
Softening the lines that run from the nose to the corners of the mouth
Dr Sarah will recommend which areas to treat based on your individual anatomy and goals — she will not treat an area unless she believes it will genuinely improve your overall facial balance.
UNDERSTAND AGEING
Dermal fillers and the ageing face
Understanding why the face ages is essential to understanding how to treat it well. As we age, three things happen simultaneously that affect the appearance of the face:
Bone resorption :
Fat pad descent & atrophy
Skin thinning & laxity
The facial bones gradually lose density and volume. The orbital rim recedes, causing the skin around the eyes to sag. The jaw loses definition. The midface loses structural support.
The face is divided into compartments of fat. As these age, they shrink and descend. The cheeks flatten. The skin of the lower face descends. Volume moves from where it should be.
Collagen and elastin production decline with age, accelerating during perimenopause as oestrogen falls. Skin becomes thinner, less elastic, and less able to support itself.
Dermal fillers primarily address the second factor — the loss and displacement of volume — creating lift and structure without surgery. This is why Dr Sarah always assesses the face as a whole, rather than treating individual areas in isolation.
A PHYSIOLOGICAL VIEW
Dermal fillers and hormonal changes
Volume loss accelerates significantly during perimenopause and after menopause, typically from the early to mid-forties. Common concerns at this stage include:
Mid-face flattening and loss of cheek definition
Hollowing around the temples
Increase in fine lines around the mouth
Deepening nasolabial folds
Loss of lip fullness and definition
WHY SEREN
The Seren approach to dermal fillers
Dermal filler treatment has a complicated public reputation. The overfilled, unnatural results that dominate social media are the product of excessive volume, incorrect placement, and insufficient assessment. At Seren, the approach is fundamentally different.
Full facial assessment, every time
Dr Sarah assesses the whole face before treating any part of it. Treating one area in isolation without understanding its relationship to the rest of the face is one of the most common causes of unnatural results.
Conservative dosing, always
At a first appointment, Dr Sarah always errs on the side of less. A conservative result can be built upon at a follow-up — an over-treated result cannot be undone immediately.
Only clinically validated products
All products used at Seren are hyaluronic acid fillers from reputable, established manufacturers. No products are sourced from unregulated suppliers.
A follow-up review included
Every patient receives a follow-up review — an important clinical step that many clinics omit entirely.
THE PROCESS
What to expect: step by step
Consultation (45 minutes)
Dr Sarah takes a full medical history, discusses your concerns and goals, and assesses your facial anatomy in detail. She will recommend which areas she believes would benefit from treatment, explain the realistic outcome, and give you full pricing before you make any decision. You are under no obligation to proceed on the day.
Pre-treatment preparation
Where needed, a topical anaesthetic cream is applied and left for 20 to 30 minutes before treatment begins.
Treatment (30–60 minutes depending on areas)
The skin is cleansed. Filler is injected using a fine needle with precise placement. The treatment is methodical and measured.
Immediately after
Results are visible immediately. Some initial swelling is normal, particularly in the lip area, and will make the result appear more pronounced immediately after treatment than it will be at two weeks.
Results settle (1–2 weeks)
The final result is best assessed at two weeks once all swelling has fully resolved.
Follow-up review (included)
Dr Sarah reviews the result at two weeks. This is included in the treatment cost.
AFTER YOUR TREATMENT
